HEALING AMBIVALENCE

Forecast for Tuesday, September 1st
Pisces Full Moon

★Oracular Overview—an inspired readiness to rise to the occasion…

Joseph Campbell said that “if you follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track, which has been there all the while waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living…”

Today’s Piscean full moon reminds us to follow our bliss.

Rudhyar’s take on the tenth degree of Pisces—the degree through which this full moon occurs—is that of “man’s ability to develop powers and skills which by transcending natural limitations allow him to operate in mental-spiritual realms… [through] the capacity inherent in every individual to seek at whatever cost entrance to a transcendent realm of reality…”¹

The word transcend comes from the Latin root ‘trānscendere’, meaning ‘to surmount; to climb beyond’… associating quite neatly today’s definition, ‘to rise above or go beyond; overpass; exceed; to transcend the limits of thought; kindness transcends courtesy’.

It is necessary in most cases—within authentic circumstances—to transcend the ordinary and routine realities, the conditioning and comfort zone, the grind, and all the expectations, and even the self-defined or socially oppressive obligations… before the notion of ‘following your bliss’ can be honored.

And it is necessary now, “to transcend what’s going on and to rise above difficulties… you may find that you have to rely on your intellectual or emotional skills to take you above and beyond your current situation—just be aware that you may not be seeing the complete picture very clearly at the moment; alternatively, you may be evading the real truth.”²

❝If you are lucky enough to find a way of life you love, you have to find the courage to live it.❞
——John Irving

Today’s moon is both the Healer’s Moon (as assigned by Raven Kaldera³) and the Harvest Moon (as traditional folklore and historical almanacs concur…) and it’s likely to be an all-around magical moon, only building, or reaping—er, transcending—upon the recent Leo new moon (August 18th at 26°)—upon trust, faith, and illuminated potentials…

And the healing detail upon this moon, throughout these current energies, offers a glimpse—both backward, where you’ve recently emerged from, and forward, toward where you’re heading and upon who you’re becoming through these seemingly endless and unexpected events and situational twists and turns.

Healing is quite necessary, too, as much as is transcending beyond your current limitations—those either sturdied or strung up within your own mind and making, or those which are factual and seemingly out of your control—and to dutifully do what needs to be done, despite it all.

❝It is our duty as men and women to proceed as though the limits of our abilities do not exist. We are collaborators in creation.❞
——Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Interestingly, it was on March 9th earlier this year that the Virgo full moon occurred at 19° with Neptune conjunct the sun, emphasizing so many unknowns and confusions—when the dreamy sun was in Pisces and the moon moved through Virgo in opposition… while today, the self-caring sun is in dutiful Virgo and the moon moves through Pisces in opposition.

What happened only several days beyond March 9th? Hmm… that’s a real thinker *face plant in hand*

Have you been given a moment of certainty, relief, or normalcy since March?

My post from the Virgo full moon in March offered that “everything is both what it is, and what it isn’t—typically, but currently—everything is both what it is, and what it could be…” which is so creepy to me, as ‘it is what it is’ has now become something of a common phrase this year, and not necessarily in a good way, and much more ‘what it could be’ seemingly speaks to the never-mentioned skunk hole of wonderland this year has become—

What’s true anymore?

We haven’t seen a clear picture, or clarified a clear understanding, of anything about anything regarding anything in quite awhile…

It is now, in this spiritual standstill, that change needs to begin within you—as these changes, and efforts of improvement, will begin to reflect themselves in various manifestations all around you.

❝I got what I needed instead of what I wanted and that’s just about the best kind of luck you can have.❞
——Cormac McCarthy

A Virgoan-inspired detail toward Piscean moons offers… that when being influenced through lunarly Piscean energies, we don’t know “if [we] are having [our] own feelings or those of the person that [we] are currently talking to, or living with, or thinking about… it is too easy to lose [ourselves] in someone else’s world-view, and because of this tide pulling [us] back and forth—what [we] feel, what others feel—emotional ambivalence is the hallmark of this existence.”⁴

Ambivalence is abound these days…

What is ambivalence, exactly?—it’s ‘having mixed feelings about someone or something: or relating to the coexistence within an individual of positive and negative feelings toward the same person, object, or action, simultaneously drawing him or her in opposite directions… uncertainty or fluctuation, especially when caused by inability to make a choice or by a simultaneous desire to say or do two opposite or conflicting things.’

Again. Many of us are struggling with what’s neither up nor down, or is it?—wait, it is… nope, nevermind. I don’t know anymore.

And on and on and on.

It’s exhausting.

An article I stumbled upon when researching today’s energies offers a very long list⁵ of all the reasons one may feel ambivalent, from a clinically psychological perspective… these include feelings of shame, guilt, a lack of support, stigmas, denial, withdrawal, a fear of treating the symptoms or the cause, fears toward change, a lack of acceptance or trust from others, low self-confidence, being fearful of oneself, anxiety toward illusions of living in one’s own world, or a hostile world, a lack of financial resources, feelings of isolation, or dependency issues, a non-supportive family environment, mixed messages all around, dilemmas or hangups with perfection, and job loss or other risk…

I would imagine, both collectively and individually, we have acquired a fair share of ambivalence since March… what to do, what not to do?—what’s ‘right’ and what is ‘wrong’!?

It is agreed among psychologists that “a certain degree of ambivalence is normal and healthy—in fact, moderate ambivalent thinkers are thought to be emotionally and intellectually mature…” this pair of words again—emotion and intellect, working together, collaboratively, in tandem—heart and mind; open-heartedness and open-mindedness—yes?… and that “moderate ambivalent thinkers are able to recognize and appreciate the world with all its complexities and imperfections… chronic ambivalence, however, is what interferes with our ability to move forward—chronic ambivalence results in a rigid cycling pattern where we find ourselves constantly moving from one side of the decision fence to the other—when this happens, ambivalence becomes an emotional and psychological barrier to achieving genuine happiness.”⁶

This article⁶ also offered four tips to help you cope with ambivalence, and may offer you simple ways of working through a process of healing:

—write down your ambivalent feelings and the circumstances in which they occur

—remind yourself that no person or situation is perfect and that all people and circumstances have both positive and negative aspects

—recognize and accept your ambivalent feelings · do not force yourself to make a rash decision

—consider seeking professional help in order to help you examine and sort out your ambivalent feelings, if necessary

❝Beware of what disturbs the heart… if something unsettles your heart, then abandon it.❞
——Ibn Mas’ud

Astrologer Pam Younghans offers that “a Pisces Full Moon is designed to expand our spiritual awareness, and to help us connect more consciously with our creative muse… it invites us to spend time in meditation, to open our hearts in compassion and understanding, and to access higher guidance—but, because the Sun is in down-to-earth Virgo, we can also ground our experience and bring it into the “real world,” rather than having it fade like a dream upon awakening… the Moon partakes of the energies of two fixed stars for this lunation, being situated at the midpoint of Delta Aquarii and Lambda Aquarii—what can we expect with these stars being activated?”⁷

Younghans then offers some insights from “The Magic of the Stars”, by Roderick Kidston to address her own ponder:

Delta Aquarii: the crucial issue here is how focused your wishes are—if they are too vague or changeable, it will be hard to get the diamond-point clarity which is one of the aims of higher meditation practice

Lambda Aquarii: there is a gift for understanding the currents of life and for moving in swift, supple alignment with whatever direction suits your flow—be careful of self-absorption, which focuses the nobler instincts of this star inwardly and personally, resulting in a ‘failure to launch’ and giving rise to melancholia

May you be inspired to rise above your own perspective and ambivalence upon things—and acknowledge the true and authentic potentials much more clearly, ‘translating your highest self-image into everyday behavior’⁸.

May your feelings and thoughts toward your limitations be muted a bit, blurred, and then re-inspired… and overcome through small inner adjustments, through ‘the exploration of things from various angles’ and an overwhelming and ‘slyly playful knowingness’ through celestial supports… ‘trusting the inner eye of intuition as well as the outer eye’⁸.

May you be inspired to rise again and follow your bliss, despite it all.

May you be inspired to remember who you are, without any outer influence to bombard your soul’s instinct to rise to the occasion.

❝Rise and rise again until lambs become lions…❞
——Robin Hood

BEYOND YOUR OWN PERSPECTIVE

Forecast for Monday, August 31st
Aquarius Gibbous Moon; Part 2

★Oracular Overview—are you living in balance in all ways?—really and truly…

Whatever was brought to your attention yesterday—pinpointed, illumined, or twisted and turned—is being further illuminated for you today.

It might be extremely effective today to consider your circumstances from beyond the limiting and constricting box of your own perspective… not unlike a metaphorically-inspired out-of-body experience—like they do in the movies, when the hero or antihero finally realizes the bigger picture.

It might also be informative to you to remember that, of course, you have your own best interests in mind… does anyone else? Who? Why?

Are you living in balance within your own, individual reality?

Are you asking directly—and specifically—for what you need?

Are you living in balance with others within a shared reality, or relationship?

Are you clearly understanding the needs of others? Really—from their perspective over yours…

Are your relationships in balance with reality?

Are you working collaboratively, in conscious reciprocation, with others to achieve each of your needs and ideals?

On this airy moon, in an effort to establish a sense of balance—breathe.

Breathe in, and out, and reflect, tune in, and consider all perspectives…

❝Do you know what help and support you need most, and are you brave and forthright enough to ask for it? Is there any part of you, perhaps unconscious, that believes you don’t deserve gifts and blessings? Do you diligently cultivate your capacity to be refreshed and restored? Are you eagerly responsive when life surprises you with learning experiences and inspirations?❞
——Rob Brezny

Typically, this is the time of month—when the moon moves through Aquarius—that we are inclined to feel more logically and think more radically, with a sense of shared perspective toward a common and approachable inclusive ideal… though we mustn’t dismiss that rationally volatile spark that flickers on within—this maintains the balance between mind and sprit.

As for your balance within the body, with both the sun and Mercury moving through Virgo—do what makes sense… if you’re exhausted, sleep; if you’re famished, eat; if you’re restless, walk; if you’re feeling lost or distracted, listen; if you’re feeling illuminated, inspire; if you’re feeling disconnected or imbalanced, love.

And if you’re feeling bold or motivated—congratulations!—you’re on to something… but don’t forget to express your inevitable vulnerabilities to others as you navigate your determinations, asking for help when needed.

USING TENSION TO PREPARE

Forecast for Sunday, August 30th
Aquarius Gibbous Moon

★Oracular Overview—the element of surprise need not be debilitating…

It is the humbling and gracious duty of a comedian to pinpoint a trending collective truth, or shadow, and jab it in a way that invokes humor through the directly insightful acknowledging of it by way of a new lens…

Psychologically speaking, this may be a most clever effort in defensive mechanisms… but it works.

❝The human race has only one really effective weapon and that is laughter.❞
——Mark Twain

A handful of techniques that comedians use include drawing upon real life experiences in which they are able to be more honest, and whimsically candid, which offers the audience a stance in vulnerability, but also personal accountability—the audience typically can’t help but try to relate or empathize with someone exposing their own private closets, much more, on stage.

Once a semblance of trust is established, a comedian often ‘finds the funny in the pain’, playing with their own pain in funny ways through words or parable. From here, a comedian can divulge ‘failings and firsts’, which also open to the audience and invite a connectedness, as we are all brutally familiar with our own experiences—why not open to rearranging the way we think of them through the hilarious exploitations of comedic insight?!

❝You can tell the most terrible truths if you first open the human heart with humor.❞
——Marina Abramović

A talented comedian is capable of animating mundanity… twisting and turning commonplace narratives into outrageous possibilities, and one of the ways they’re able to pull this off is through the art of misdirection.

Misdirection is accomplished through “arousing the absorbed interest of a spectator in some object, person, or idea away from the main method, during those moments in which the performer makes the secret sleight (or subterfuge), thus making possible its undetected execution…” magicians use this ‘trick’ all the time, toward a visual platform—comedians utilize this technique through our inner mechanics of thought processing.

In other words—the element of surprise need not be debilitating.

Also, remember that whatever potentially comedic opportunity you’re involved in—you’re involved willingly, yes?

❝Humor is what happens when we’re told the truth quicker and more directly than we’re used to.❞
——George Saunders

Today may present to you a twist or turn, a misdirection of sorts, a surprise… a seemingly forced or pinpointed decision may be asked of you, a decision which allows only up or down, left or right, here or there, that way or this way…

Much more, Venus in Cancer is opposing Pluto in Capricorn, amidst of all the Uranian vibrations, and is thereby attempting to shift an intensely dramatic imbalance between up and down, left and right, here and there, that way and this… much, much more—pulling at both heart strings and the riggings of reality as you perceive it to be.

The degree through which this opposition occurs associates itself with the idea that “the individual operates both as an objective mind and an emotional participant in the events and hopes of his day…”

❝Humor is perhaps a sense of intellectual perspective: an awareness that some things are really important, others not; and that the two kinds are most oddly jumbled in everyday affairs.❞
——Christopher Morley

Not unlike watching a comedian shamelessly delivering a straightforward statement toward a really squishy sore spot—the comedian is not aiming for the audience personally—you need not react defensively… it is all but a matter of perspective—and much more, making the effort to see something from the perspective of an/Other.

An experienced comedian also «uses» tension… rather than becoming distracted by it or defensive in reaction to it.

Though perhaps the most effective technique a comedian can use—and I will not be able to resist repeating the advocacy of this throughout the next few months—over-preparedness… as any comedian will tell you, ‘proper planning prevents poor performance’.

❝A clear vision, backed by definite plans, gives you a tremendous feeling of confidence and personal power.❞
——Brian Tracy

THE VALUE OF DISCIPLINE & NEED

Forecast for Saturday, August 29th
Capricorn/Aquarius Gibbous Moon

★Oracular Overview—if wishes and buts were candy and nuts…

An invaluable detail toward indispensability can be found within the depths of discipline… the more one is invested in whatever it is one’s speciality is, the more valuable the product or skill created through the discipline will become; the more valuable something is, the more distinguished it becomes… the more irreplaceable the essence within it will be.

Today’s energies ask you to ask yourself of all the ways you are invaluable to others…

As shamanic astrologer Raven Kaldera suggests through this moon, the Smith’s Moon, that “there is something more important than the opinions and respect of others—the self-respect that grows from mastering a craft, becoming competent in some kind of creation, bringing creative power into the world.”

Today’s energies also dare you to think outside of the box toward your potential, and your ideals… as well as your current circumstances within your reality in the Now—how are you adding to your overall success?

What steps are you connecting between the dots of your Now and Not Yet?

Today’s energies are especially opportunistic, in that a particularly strengthened and justifiably validated Mercury in Virgo is connecting to Jupiter in Capricorn by trine, suggesting that—should you actively participate in these potentials—there is a high likelihood of your right intentions and efforts meeting up with the appropriate advantage… if you have a question, you’ll likely find the answer, or, the answer will probably find you—and if you have a reasonable request, it’s presumable that you possess within you already the means of making it happen, or, have a close connection to do so through a spark of innovation and a little bit of can-do.

Again—keeping it real here is key… these energies are earthy, and thereby practical, realistic, and necessary—not silly, hopeful, or leisurely.

Still. And again. There is a realistic difference between realistic optimism and idealistic hopefulness, yes?

Even as the moon moves from security-seeking Capricorn to go-it-alone, law-breaking exception to all rules, Aquarius—despite whatever luxury or lavish ideals we think we may want, today’s energies are focused upon that which we NEED… and we’re not always so focused on this—though we really should be. It may surprise you—but when actual authentic needs are actually acknowledged, owned, and met… wants have a way of finding you, or fall to the wayside altogether.

❝As idiotic as optimism can sometimes seem, it has a weird habit of paying off.❞
——Michael Lewis

REALISTICALLY HOPEFUL OPTIMISMS

Forecast for Thursday, August 27th
Capricorn Gibbous Moon

★Oracular Overview—the five P’s of import: patience, perseverance, preparedness, panic-resistance, and presence…

Oddly, today’s Saturnian moon offers a sense of hopeful optimism…

Please keep in mind, however, that despite wherever the moon may be, or where any of the planets may be specifically for that matter—through today and through the rest of the month—the overwhelming energies will remain earthy and cardinal, which would literally translate toward Capricornian.

It also cannot be ignored that the heavyweights (Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn) remain within Capricorn (and today’s moon will apply these), being squared and somewhat assaulted, emotionally bullied, and menacingly confronted by the likes of Mars in Aries, which directly translates to being called to rise to an occasion—however restricted, tightly held, or exhaustive it may be…

❝On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio.❞
——Hunter S. Thompson

Today’s Saturnian moon offers a sense of hopeful optimism, which is huge, though this would speak toward a more realistic and rational outlook—not flimflam willy-nilly woo-woo.

The energies of Capricorn are often misinterpreted and shamelessly misrepresented, much to a squishy disservice to astrology as a study, and to the reader alike… Capricornian energies are governed and inspired, strengthened, and driven by Saturn, and so are therefore and thereby motivated by sheer and determined will, personal accountability, obligational duty, and by time itself. We do not typically associate Capricorn or Saturn with ‘fun’ or ‘fun-loving’, mostly because fun doesn’t generally accomplish much in the long-run or sustain itself for the sake of itself for the long-term, and so neither Saturn or Capricorn are too interested for too long… but we most always associate both Saturn and Capricorn with the likes of legacy, fortitude, and self-mastery.

❝It is not possible to control the outside of yourself until you have mastered your breathing space. It is not possible to change anything until you understand the substance you wish to change.❞
——Jeanette Winterson

Who are you, who are you motivated to become, and how will you be remembered?—what do you stand for?—how are you using your advantages?

What drives you, motivates you, and pushes you forward to be the best version of yourself you could ever envision?

In what ways are you determined, challenged, or negligible in using your advantages, privileges, and shadows?

Again. Idealistic hopefulness is not the same thing as realistic optimism…

Patience. Perseverance. Preparedness. Panic-resistant. Presence.

Many of the current and confronting narratives and shadows alike coming to the surface to be officially acknowledged these days are the narratives and shadows of Capricornian diction, as it is wherever Pluto moves that shadows are illuminated… and so must be combated with Capricornian tools and tricks—practicing patience in all ways (and mindful, right action), practicing perserverance toward your bluer than blue horizons, practicing preparedness for both the inevitable and the unpredictable alike, practicing panic-resistance at every turn through every day, and practicing presence in an effort to preserve your sanity and heart-centeredness.

❝Life has a tendency to provide a person with what they need in order to grow. Our beliefs, what we value in life, provide the roadmap for the type of life that we experience. A period of personal unhappiness reveals that our values are misplaced and we are on the wrong path. Unless a person changes their values and ideas, they will continue to experience discontentment.❞
——Kilroy J. Oldster

Let’s talk about it—I look forward to being an asset on your journey.

JUST A SMIDGE, JUST IN CASE

Forecast for Wednesday, August 26th
Sagittarius Gibbous Moon

★Oracular Overview—you know, just in case…

A lunarly square to Neptune inspired by Jupiter, indeed, inspires… though there is suggestion, by degree, to begin envisioning and, much more, miming through the motions of preparedness—just in case.

Through a Sagittarian lens, the words ‘just in case’ tend to be translated more toward ‘in case it rains’, or should one forget one’s car keys, or one’s overall agenda, or one’s direct focus of an immediate environment… you know—Sagittarian energies can become so carried away—Sagittarian energies are not inclined to be planned for, much less are we inclined to prepare or plan when Sagittarian energies are influencing the moon.

Still. This present notion of ‘just in case’ stirs, nevertheless… if anything, under the more natural inclinations of today’s energies—consider, just in case, that which is taking up too much space in your day-to-day, as well as what you’ve been assigning too much attention to and isn’t reciprocating these efforts back to you, or pinpointing that which distracts you endlessly…

Because, after all, Sagittarian energies only want to experience everything—with the possibility of presence, at least in theory… however impatiently.

And maybe, just maybe, just in case… acknowledging that which isn’t exactly realistic or reciprocative—those whimsied, overly-idealistic daydreams you envision and meditate upon that could stand a much better chance of manifesting in reality if only they were slightly shifted just a smidge…

You know—just in case.

❝Believe in everything, just in case.❞

YEARNING & BEING IN TANDEM

Forecast for Tuesday, August 25th
Sagittarius 1st Quarter Moon

★Oracular Overview—step by step, but be prepared to stop or slow down…

It was Stoic philosopher Seneca who claimed that “a quarrel is quickly settled when deserted by one party, that there is no battle unless there be two…”

Today’s first-quartered moon at 2°59′ Sagittarius associates itself toward the “transcendent ritualization of conflict… [through the symbolism of] two men playing chess…”¹ and thereby “you may need to be very thoughtful and cautious about the moves you make and the risks that you are prepared to take… it’s important to take into account the wider picture and all the possible outcomes of any actions taken—impulsive acts with no forward planning will probably be risky and may lead to others taking advantage…”²

We can’t always rush a winning game, though Sagittarian energies seem to frequently be hurried—this could present some obstacles… it could get a little nuts *wink*

❝I feel as if I were a piece in a game of chess when my opponent says of it: that piece cannot be moved.❞
——Søren Kierkegaard

Further, “there can be a lot at stake here if you ‘lose’, but there may be much to be gained in you ‘win’… effective strategies and forward-thinking maneuvers are needed—take some time to compose yourself and assess what’s really going on: you may then find the way forward or out of the maze or conflict…”²

Tortoise mentality, yes?—be here now… slowly wins the race—be prepared to stop, slow down, wait, be delayed, or experience an obtuse obstacle.

Finally, and perhaps most crucially, “it can be very difficult to relax in this type of competitive environment—one often feels that they can’t let their guard down for one moment… take one step at a time, thinking all the while, and move with purpose and forethought.”²

Very much like the tortoise, from the parable with the impatient hare… just do your best to keep your eye on the prize.

❝The two hardest tests on the spiritual road are the patience to wait for the right moment and the courage not to be disappointed with what we encounter.❞
——Paulo Coelho

Not only is taking one step at a time, mindfully and consciously, extremely crucial these days—moving with purpose and forethought is also essential—so is seeking out what we do not know, as shamanic astrologer Raven Kaldera refers to this moon as the Seekers Moon, a moon when “we allow ourselves to yearn…” a moon when we “allow ourselves to look at the pain of all we do not know and at the slim likelihood of our ability to know—not all of it, but enough to satisfy us through new spiritual experiences…”³

I would imagine the the tortoise, too, has much to yearn…

The word ‘yearn’ is quite ancient, becoming a word before 900AD—allow me to look back upon its etymology; its Old English derivative meant ‘eager’, akin to its Old Norse definition of ‘desire’, whereas the Greek word associated yearning with rejoicing, meaning to ‘see joy’, derived from the original Sanskrit word, háryati, which was more closely defined as craving… yearning has come a long way, and how appropriate for this word to be so associated with Sagittarian energies—as the Archer/Centaur archetype most definitely knows a thing or two about yearning, either for the goal or ideal itself, and the actually experience thereof, or simply for the ability to venture about with human legs.

Embracing an open-minded curiosity is good—and probably necessary!—though maintaining a keen and motivated eye on the prize, simultaneously, will behoove you as well… yearning, as well, for each of the ultimate motions and movements involved toward your ideal, and the actual experiencing of these motions and movements.

There are many things we’ll never know for sure, and many things that will likely remain, always, a yearning—a mystery—as defined by the most recent assemblage… though there are countless unthinkable scenarios and circumstances for which we should all be so grateful to not be bound by or consumed with—accidental ignorances, truly, are blessings…

My astrological assessment of the current energies, wholeheartedly, is to take each day for what it is, to be consciously present through each day, with a patient vision of the end goal… and to simply be the best version of yourself each day—curious, open to alternatives, and determined to thrive.

WILLINGLY HONORING OUR FEARS

Forecast for Monday, August 24th
Scorpio Crescent Moon; Part 2

★Oracular Overview—dealing with the demons again…

Our fears, inner monsters and demons, and shadowy darknesses alike, should really be honored through daily acknowledgement, understanding, and love. These natural inclinations all tend to become unruly and resentful, and act out through actual manifestations that become understandably confused and out of control, and sometimes beyond our awareness, to the actual scope in magnitude of the actual effects that animate and linger alike.

When we acknowledge, seek out and put effort to understand, and love our fears, monsters and demons, and shadowy darknesses—we effectively deny any opportunities to be manipulated, and either socially or conditionally controlled through these precious places within ourselves.

When we deny, ignore, resist, or repress these natural inclinations of fear and shadow, we offer up the most vulnerably squishy parts of ourselves almost directly to be manipulated, exploited, and ultimately, controlled.

❝A monster is a person who has stopped pretending.❞
——Colson Whitehead

Deep down, within the spark of our souls—no one wants this…

So why does this happen?

We tend to think that we’re so in control of ourselves…

How might one even begin to recognize various reactions to inclinations?—as we are likely so consumed by conditioning…

How might you recognize the healthy responses and constructive processing of fear over the debilitating fear-based reactions of control?

❝Useless suffering is the kind of suffering you’re compulsively drawn back to over and over again out of habit. It’s familiar, and thus perversely omfortable. Useful suffering is the kind of pain that surprises you with valuable teachings and inspires you to see the world with new eyes. While useless suffering is often born of fear, wise suffering is typically stirred up by love. The dumb, unproductive stuff comes from allowing yourself to be controlled by your early conditioning and from doing things that are out of harmony with your essence. The useful variety arises out of an intention to approach life as an interesting work of art and uncanny game that’s worthy of your curiosity.❞
——Rob Brezny

Astrologer Rob Brezny asks a series of questions of a particular Scorpionic nature, regarding topics totally unrelated though nevertheless entirely relevant…

1. What feelings and intuitions have you been trying to ignore lately?

2. Which parts of your life are overdue for death?

3. What messages has life been trying to convey to you but which you’ve chosen to ignore?

4. What red herrings, straw men, and scapegoats have you chased after obsessively in order to avoid dissolving your most well-rationalized delusions?

5. What unripe parts of yourself are you most ashamed or fearful of? How can you give those parts more ingenious love?

6. What parts of yourself have the least integrity and don’t act in harmony with what you regard as your highest values? How can you bring them into alignment with your true desires?

7. Is it possible that in repressing things about yourself that you don’t like, you have also disowned potentially strong and beautiful aspects of yourself? What are they?

8. Are those really flaws that are bugging you about the people whose destinies are entwined with yours, or just incompletely developed talents? Are those really flaws that are bugging you about yourself, or merely incompletely developed talents?

9. Some people try to deny their portion of the world’s darkness and project it onto individuals or groups they dislike. Others acknowledge its power so readily that they allow themselves to be overwhelmed by it. We believe in taking an in-between position, accepting it as an unworked gift that can serve our liberation. Where do you stand?

10. It’s easy to see fanaticism, rigidity, and intolerance in other people, but harder to acknowledge them in yourself. Do you dare?

Sending you love and light as you honor your fears and illuminate your shadows with love… you matter and you are invaluable—the universe needs your illuminated intentions.

❝Our demons are our own limitations, which shut us off from the realization of the ubiquity of the spirit… each of these demons is conquered in a vision quest.❞

AN OVERVIEW OF OBLIGATORY OVERWHELM:THE POSSIBILITY OF POTENTIALITY—A NEW STEP IN EVOLUTION

MARS MOVEMENTS•••
Mars in Aries Square Saturn in Capricorn at 26°—Part 2

Mars in Aries will square Saturn in Capricorn on August 24th at 26°19′, for the first of three squares—upon a degree which associates itself to, as Rudhyar puts it, “obsession by potentiality… and revision of attitude and inner revaluation…” which is to be taken as both “a warning” and as a resolve of “undaunted faith”.

To work with undaunted energy! What fear! Who is powerful enough to thwart you…
——Swami Vivekananda

In other words, Rudhyar elaborates, “the mind which finds itself confronted with a totally unfamiliar and as yet unexperienced type of potency finds it difficult at first to adjust to its new world of perception and possibilities of action… [one] may rush ahead excitedly and lose [one’s] bearings—one should try to reach a state of calm watchfulness, and to learn that at this level too there are limits and restrictions, i.e. laws expressing this new type of “order”… [one] has to move carefully in this new realm, for [one’s] consciousness is not yet fully able to operate in it, except with closely defined limits—it is a symbol of warning—a warning against undertaking more than it is as yet safe and sound to attempt.”¹

Thoughts are everything… as my Muse muses, one’s perception to anything is absolutely everything.

Another perspective upon this point and degree, is that “we need to realize that sometimes we can’t have and hold everything to ourselves… there may be too much to possess, we may need to let go of something in order to make space for new things in our lives—having many great ideas and ambitions is wonderful, but it can keep us from really achieving anything; life can become unfocused or distracted by too many possibilities…”²

Further, “the aim is to appreciate those things you can do or achieve now and not feel badly about the things you can’t… even if you don’t get exactly what you want, you will probably feel an incredible sense of relief…”²

By degree, through the actuality of Mars forwardly marching in Aries, through the demands of adjustment and potentiality of obstacle—we are upon a new point within our Now as we forwardly march toward our Not Yet, and we should be so inclined to prepare for necessary adjustments en route to these bluer than blue horizons, and for obstacles to occur between here and our ideals… these both in an effort of serving to prepare us for more potential than we can, at this point, fathom—if we’re up for it.

Furthermore, Rudhyar explains this degree as that it “makes it clear that the mind that has become over-stimulated and obsessed by all it appears to be able to accomplish in some new realm of experience may easily fail… [there is] a challenge to the emergence of a new capacity; generally speaking, this capacity is what one calls “creative imagination”… the mind must first “imagine” that which one will then be able sooner or later to actually experience—at this stage it may be difficult to distinguish success from failure.”¹

Never do things others can do and will do, if there are things others cannot do or will not do.
——Amelia Earhart

Mars will square Saturn again, when retrograded, on September 29th through the twenty-fifth degree, and again, a third and final time, on January 13th, 2021 through the third degree of Taurus, at which time Saturn will once again be moving through Aquarius, picking up the issues that emerged earlier this year from March 25th through July 2nd, when Saturn tipped its toe into the archetypal energies of the Waterbearer.

First things first, however, I will prepare you now, from September 6-9th Mars will station retrograde upon the twenty-eighth degree of Aries, a degree which upholds responsibility in a most crucial way… this degree represents ‘a large audience confronting the performer who is disappointing its expectations’, and this could either be combatively exposing a single individual—you yourself or an/Other within your reality—associating itself with the “necessity for mature preparation and self-criticism…” or within the collective at large—again, a single individual within the collective or a collective.

Competition is natural to the ignorant; cooperation is natural to the wise.❞
——Manly P Hall

In other words, simply put—great hopes and excited expectations cannot be sustained… unless major upheaval occurs or adjustments are activated.

You may feel as though you’re letting yourself or others down, or you may feel defeated, exhausted, or powerless.

Either you, yourself, or an/Other is being “made fully aware of having promised—to the many elements of [one’s] own personality as well as perhaps to other human beings—more than [one] was able to deliver… the issue is how to handle this situation… in one form or another, it is an often recurring situation in the life of an individual person—the manner in which it is met determines the individual’s future possibilities of development and achievement.

Further, and perhaps most importantly, “the individual is not alone concerned, for in a sense «mankind as a whole will be affected» …what is required, therefore, is an objective inclusiveness of the whole environment; thus a sense of responsibility for what one’s actions will produce in people who have been made to expect significant results.”

To prepare for this—avoid promising more than you can realistically deliver, and actually deliver upon what you say you will… also, it wouldn’t hurt to altogether avoid tooting your own horn through these transitions—others will, or should, hold you to your tune, and when you miss a note, it will be pointed out.

Where is the lesson in observing reactions, and what can you learn from expectations?—your own or an/Others.

Another way to be prepared is to think negatively. Yes, I’m a great optimist—but, when trying to make a decision, I often think of the worst case scenario. I call it ‘the eaten by wolves factor.’ If I do something, what’s the most terrible thing that could happen? Would I be eaten by wolves? One thing that makes it possible to be an optimist, is if you have a contingency plan for when all hell breaks loose. There are a lot of things I don’t worry about, because I have a plan in place if they do.
——Randy Pausch

In late September, through retrograde, the twenty-fifth degree will introduce “revelations of new potentialities…” but only under the unspoken celestial agreements of openness, and adjustment thereof—Rudhyar explains, through this degree, to “be open… be able and willing to shape your translucent mind in the form revealing spiritual fulfillment, and you will be able to experience life and power on inner as well as outer planes”…implied [is a] message of faith… man can only truly experience what he deeply believes he can experience.”¹

Further, this degree “announces the possibility of a new step in evolution, but it is still only a possibility…”¹

Further, “it may seem as though there are so many possibilities coming that could change your life on many levels, but promises are often more complicated than we initially think… is this a situation with integrity or is it laced with duplicity?”²

As astrologer Robert Wilkinson advises, “while Mars direct helps us get a lot done, Mars retrograde requires us to slow down and undo, re-do, or re-plan our lives with an eye to making things more efficient during the direct motion periods… how we attack the problems in our lives, how we take the initiative in action…” and Mars will be retrograde from September 10th until November 18th.

There is an indicated suggestion here, within these degrees, that “a choice that arises between the heart and doing what you want to do and social obligation and knowing what’s right… there is much to be realized and learned from the situation…”²

This is not a time to be ambivalent.

I do not intentionally aspire to sound like a political ad, I assure you.

Still.

This is a time to act, astrologically speaking, even if your actions are stumped, stymied, or scattered… continue to move forward, learning your lessons through how you do, act, and become—the overcoming of any crisis is through compassion and inherited wisdom, toward whatever end it demands or requires—with the possibility of eventual festivity and happiness.

More to come—Part 3—in January…

The moment one definitely commits oneself, providence moves too. All sorts of things then begin to occur that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no one could have dreamed would come this way. Whatever you can do or dream, you can begin. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.
