Forecast for Monday, August 3rd
Aquarius Full Moon
★Oracular Overview—neurology, space, freedom, and compassioned love…
A crisis point is a time when a situation will either become very, very bad or begin to offer a smidge of hope and slowly get better… since July 20th, at the Cancer new moon, consider everything that has played itself out, or reflect upon that which has continued to be avoided… and then look directly at what is currently occurring, both within and beyond.
Here in the Now, both personally and collectively, we are at a crisis point, a breaking point—we are angry and we are bordering on desperate… but what if we shifted these perspectives slightly, toward curiosity and excitement?
Though, this ‘we’ is seemingly becoming more and more divided…
The psychological and environmental landscapes beyond a crisis point, in both the forefront and the background, serve as quite notable details in the overall scope of it all, though one is not so easily inclined to look upon these details when one is within the midst of a crisis…
❝Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.❞
——John Lewis
Interestingly, researchers have discovered, after decades of research, that people have indeed become somewhat divided, neurologically, and have become “more conservative when they feel threatened and afraid… brain scans show that people who identify [themselves conservatively] have larger and more active right amygdalas, an area of the brain that’s associated with expressing and processing fear—this aligns with the idea that feeling afraid makes people [more conservative]…”¹
Further, it has been established that “fear and learning don’t mix… in fact, when we are in a state of fear, there are stress hormones in our bloodstreams—researchers have shown that low and medium levels of the stress hormone, called cortisol, which improves learning and enhances memory, whereas high levels of the stress hormone have a bad effect on learning and memory… when people are afraid, they do not want to be spoken to in a way that will enhance their existing fears; whether they’re afraid of real things, or things that have been made up as a tool of fear mongering or gaslighting, their fears are valid to them… speak calmly and rationally.”¹
❝It is your business when the wall next door catches fire…❞
——Horace
Continued, those who are inclined toward conservatively opportunistic fear-based thinking and those who are compassionately pacifistic “are starting from a completely different foundation, neurologically speaking… if you’re going to get into a debate, it’s best to cone armed with statistics and sourced facts—the things that are logically impossible to combat… to understand why people deny facts, you must understand motivated reasoning—which is what social scientists call the process of deciding what evidence to accept based on the conclusion one prefers…”¹
What we prefer isn’t always right, or factually true.
Preference is tricky this way, yes? In fact, “a human being’s very sense of self is intimately tried up with his or her identity group’s status and beliefs… unsurprisingly, then, people respond automatically and defensively to information that threatens the worldview of groups with which they identify.”¹
Some of us fear fear, and some of us fear the impact of perpetuated and willful ignorance—either way, it is actually the individual journey between the heart and the mind that matters most, which is the essence of the dichotomy between Leo and Aquarius: the heart and the mind’s reasoning.
Preference is definitely a matter of the heart, and I am quite convinced that truth is a feeling, not a statement in reasoning or commandment… and, it’s also interesting that both Leo and Aquarius prefer to be ‘right’.
The degree through which today’s full moon occurs associates itself with “the necessity of recognizing differences of types and levels of development wherever human beings live and work together… this symbol obviously refers to the ascending process of evolution of life forms and consciousness—it seems to apply especially to the fact that differences of levels exist among human beings; every human being is potentially divine as an individual person…”²
❝There is a great deal of unmapped country within us which would have to be taken into account in an explanation of our gusts and storms.❞
——George Eliot
As astrologer Diana McMahon Collis so succinctly explains, “this lunation also forms a t-square to Uranus in Taurus, giving Uranus the edge, if not the upper hand; the apex planet in a t-square tends to add a compulsive energy, which can work to drive a situation forward—for better or worse. Like it or not, Uranus is playing a big, disruptive role, which may seem slightly ironic given that the planet is in Taurus, with its associations of being peaceful until pushed too far. We now have the potential transition from placid grazer to raging bull, where the animal has been actively provoked. Depending on which side of this scenario we sit—metaphorically speaking—it could be that we suddenly experience some sort of imminent backlash; or that we act out ourselves, turning to face an aggressor and preparing to charge… with outer planets, we are not always so directly involved, but we see some fallout around us.”³
Furthermore, and “alternatively, there may just be a bit of weird energy around, with random events that unsettle us. We are encouraged to embrace the unexpected, because there’s nothing else we can really do. Whatever happens, this t-square occurs in fixed signs, which makes a particular fate feel fixed, or at least gives it a “long-term” quality. That said, note that Uranus will turn to apparent retrograde motion on August 15th, so whatever this weird force may be, and however it presents, it very well could turn out to be simply “of the moment” —something temporary, with a peculiar appropriateness about it. With Taurus emphasised, it will almost certainly be related to security issues, and may tie in with concerns about money, possessions, and employment—the Aquarian focus also underlines fairness. From a societal perspective, this could indicate a move towards equalization between socioeconomic classes, with ordinary people securing more rights typically reserved for the privileged.”³
❝Like the castle in its corner in a medieval game
I foresee terrible trouble and I stay here just the same
I’m a fool to do your dirty work, oh yeah
I don’t wanna do your dirty work no more
I’m a fool to do your dirty work, oh yeah…❞
——Steely Dan
The degree through which Mars and Jupiter connect exactly tomorrow by square, though it’s been building for some time now and will linger after, associates itself with the “overcoming crises through compassion… the theme is the transmutation of life into love…”² and this square suggests that whatever it is you are focusing upon or envisioning is likely to expand beyond your expectations, and force itself upon your peripheral whether you are prepared or not… responses are best over reactions, though reactions are abound in these energies—be they fight or flight, freeze or fold…
Compassion. Heart. Centeredness. Love. Vulnerability. Broadening the scope of perspective.
To so beautifully harmonize both the heart and the airy components of mentality in conclusion, allow me to share with you a Bulgarian phrase a dear friend of mine shared with me—широко скроен describes both an attire and a heart, as the literal translation is ‘widely tailored’, meaning ‘there is room to breath; a generosity in space’…
Freedom is, quite literally (and neurologically) a generosity in space… freedom is a feeling «and» a mindset—freedom is a way of life.
❝Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle.❞
——Plato

❝What’s the story of your life? Psychologist James Hillman said that in order to thrive, you need to develop a clear vision of that story. How do you do that? Hillman advised you to ask yourself this question: “How can I assemble the pieces of my life into a coherent plot?” And why is this effort to decode your biography so important? Because your soul’s health requires you to cultivate curiosity and excitement about the big picture of your destiny. If you hope to respond with intelligence to the questions and challenges that each new day brings, you must be steadily nourished with an expansive understanding of why you are here on earth.❞
