Cancer Balsamic Moon

★Oracular Overview—the notion of love given with any expectations of return, or with any conditions whatsoever, is not love in any way–given to an/Other or toward yourself…

Taking care of yourself is not only important—it is imperative… because you deserve it.

I realize all too well, sadly, that this is all too often easier said than done, though this is to all our collective disadvantages, truly.

Today’s moon begs of you to surrender to your own nurturing.

❝And there’s also ‘To him that hath shall be given.’ After all, you must have a capacity to receive, or even omnipotence can’t give. Perhaps your own passion temporarily destroys the capacity.❞
——C.S. Lewis

Try to remember when the last time was that you were able to ‘do your thing’—you know—that thing that makes you feel like You, at your best, or within your own private sacred ‘happy place’.

Whatever ritual that is—be it sleeping for 22 hours straight or napping for twenty power minutes, reading until dawn, streaming entire seasons of stories on Hulu, watercolor painting, crocheting, walking in Nature, sitting silently, in reverie, in a cemetery, meditating upon empowering mantras, driving down the freeway at high speeds in direct defiance, belly dancing, camping or glamping, or taking something apart to see better how it works—try to find much needed time for yourself today, or this weekend.

My point is that you’ve likely been neglecting yourself in a painfully fundamental way—and the actual muscle memory within your fibrous tissues, and deeply imbedded in the marrow of your bones can feel this damage… you do realize that you deserve much better than this, yes?

Furthermore, you realize that you can’t possibly so endlessly give of yourself for everyone around you in every single conceivable way if you yourself are not properly given to and cared for, yes?

And yes, I realize that this is infamously ‘easier said than done’—but I also realize that this is all too often an issue of perception, as well—loving yourself for yourself because you’re worth it is always always paramount—and prerequisite—to being loved the way you need by an/Other.

We make time for what we want, and what we need—and thems the brakes, period—and you, and your own well-being, is worth both and beyond.

❝Those who say they don’t have the time to take care of their skin, will sooner or later have to find the time for corrective treatments.❞
——Jana Elston

Cancerian energies are intrinsically associated with crustaceans, and one can immediately connect the notion of holding on so tightly to something, or someone, as a crab in Nature will do—hermit crabs literally carry around their own home! And it may be Leo that associates itself so fiercely with the thumping beat of the heart—it is Cancer, however, that associates with the fleshy, fibrous muscle memory thereof… and a heart with emotional buildup needs to let go through its beatings—quite rhetorically, as well as metaphorically.

And perhaps this will be a theme today as the moon moves through the tenderness of Cancer.

Let go of some of the emotional buildup you’ve been clinging to, and the expectations endlessly held and never, ever met… and give yourself permission to forgive something painful you’ve been choosing to cling to and remember, for whatever reason—if it’s not serving you in this moment, hold yourself accountable in letting it go.

❝The truth is, unless you let go, unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realize that the situation is over, you cannot move forward.❞
——Steve Maraboli

The balsamic moon, too, associates itself with surrendering to What Is, and letting go of anything before or beyond this particular point in time… and when in Cancer, these days, this moon is preparing to take on the Capricorn heavyweights by opposition tomorrow, though today, the moon moves to square both Chiron in Aries and Mercury in Libra, suggesting that perspectives and perceptions, psyche, and muscle memories alike could all be somewhat more emotionally driven today, and feeling somewhat overwhelmed or un(der)appreciated, or even defensively fueled or overly sensitive.

Further still, the sun opposes the nebulousness of Neptune, perpetuating confusions and conflictions, and as crazy as this might sound—a sense of competition may lurk or loom among the shadows today.

Competition with yourself? Or, possibly a feeling of separating self and other?—you against all others?

Or maybe, just maybe… this competitive feeling is within regard to an imagined attachment between fulfillment and emptiness.

This said, we may be feeling the earliest influences of Mars slowing to station all week—and this Sunday, officially stationing retrograde—to eventually begin applying an intensely and heavily weighted square to Saturn through the next two weeks, to be exacted on September 28th… and this will likely emerge as an aggressively frustrated exaggeration, much like slamming one foot on the gas and the other on the break and in all seriousness insisting that it is the vehicle that isn’t working properly.

We’re trying to drive as though we have a full tank of gas, when really—we’re running on empty.

❝Take someone who doesn’t keep score, who’s not looking to be richer, or afraid of losing, who has not the slightest interest even in his own personality: he’s free.❞
——Rumi Jalalu’l-Din

In other words—if you’re unwilling to let go of some of the emotional excesses today, tomorrow will likely feel quite heavy for you and unnecessarily overloaded… and then, in confronting such a backed up buildup—where does one even begin?

Is this really fulfillment? Is this what passes?—to avoid an imagined emptiness?

Giving, giving, giving—never receiving—and holding any expectations whatsoever as emotional collateral… feelings of competitive angst and emptiness are the potential as a result of this.

This is not love.

This is not emotional intelligence.

This is not selfless nurturing or without a deep-seated need to control.

Brass tacks: this is not healthy or conducive.

This is self-sabotage in the name of something sacred.

❝This is how women self-sabotage and self-destruct—unless we have constant witnesses to our hard work, we are convinced we pull off every day of our lives through smoke and mirrors.❞
——Sarah Breathnach
