Leo Balsamic Moon
★Oracular Overview—the keys to the sweetest kingdom are found within…
The word ‘leisure’, meaning “rest, refinement, and contemplative lifestyle” stems from the Latin root ‘licere’, which means “to be permitted”… describing the permission we must be given, or give to ourselves, to consume, partake, and enjoy the leisurely ‘good life’, which is a very Leonine/fifth house/Apollonian idea, indeed.
In fact, historically, this leisurely good life was directly associated with royalty, with kings, promising a future kingdom… this kingly life, if deserved, if one worked determinedly, for promised power, leisure, and security—but as we know, from the books, the legends, and the myths—the good life was often a lie.
But does it have to be?
Ambition is often misdirected and largely misunderstood.

What is ambition, but ‘an earnest desire… and willingness to strive for or aspire toward… a distinct activity or energy’—ambition demands creativity; to create is ‘to cause to come into being, as something unique that would not naturally evolve or that is not made by ordinary processes… to evolve from one’s own thought or imagination… to cause to happen; bring about; arrange.’
The leisurely, kingly lifestyle—the good life, a life worth living—is within our power to be created, authentically… how very Leo moon, indeed.
Laurence Boldt writes, “the promise of a future kingdom kept the wage worker toiling away… If he wasn’t enjoying what he was doing, well, the age of leisure was just around the corner… It is amusing today, at the beginning of the 21st century, to read the predictions made as late as the mid-1970s about the life of leisure that was just around the corner for the common man… Still, we rush to get our share of the goods of life, before our time runs out. We cling to the hope that, if not by the miracles of science, then perhaps by the miracle of the credit card, we can live the life of kings…”
Boldt continues his point, that we “were promised that we would be little kings, and yet it seems we have so little control over the direction of our lives…”
Thereby, the ‘little king’ archetypal myth is “a prisoner of his own ‘freedom’—from responsibility and conscience… [the] inner life is barren and hollow.”

Continued, “of course, most of us don’t actually live like kings; yet most are still caught up in the myth… we wish it were so; to wish for something is to believe in it—the ‘lief’ of belief originally meant ‘wish’… if you believe in the myth, not intellectually, but deeply—subconsciously, you accept it as the standard by which you judge yourself and others.”
Further, the Virgoan sun connects to Pluto by trine at 22°34′, highlighting the degree point though which Saturn and Pluto finally collided in conjunction back in January… from its Virgoan perspective, toward the «understanding and improvement» of matters of groundbreaking changes and evolution, this degree speaks of “having faith and courage, fearlessness, and adrenalin rushes…”
Oh, the bitter-sweetness of life…
Perhaps the milk and honey of (personal) power, liberty of leisure, and sense of security is possible after all?—if these matters are endured in practicality, through devotion, with patience… especially as today’s golden Leo moon illuminates Venus in Leo by conjunction, as Venus applies a sticky square to rule-breaking and status-defying Uranus, exact tomorrow.
The eighth degree of Leo—the degree through which the moon and Venus connect—associates itself with “understanding the spiritual flow involved in creativity…” which is indeed the main ingredient of anything worth doing or being or living—especially these days.
If what you’re doing doesn’t possess meaning… why are you doing it?
The Venus/Uranus square, alone, speaks to the defiance of status quo norms and hierarchies—urging toward a more customizable, authentic kind of lifestyle, a lifestyle with meaning, a lifestyle that fulfills you in your own way, toward your own unique needs… a lifestyle that allows you time to breathe and think creatively, to feel—a life that offers the rapture of being alive—a life others would envy… how very Leo moon, indeed.
