ॐOracular Mantra—individual identity is a tricky thing…

Gary Lachman writes in his book “Caretakers of the Cosmos” that the five senses might actually be limiting to us, and in order to more effectively survive—and, perhaps more imperative: to function—in this world it might be necessary to “edit out most of the ‘interdependent connections’ linking everything to everything else…”

“It may be the case, then,” continues Lachman, “that our body reacts to what it perceives in ‘primary perceptions’, but we—our conscious selves—are unaware of this…” in quoting Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird, from their book titled “The Secret Life of Plants”, Lachman shares, that “if everyone were to be in everyone else’s mind all the time it would be chaos.”

Truly. We can typically barely grasp our own…

And how very appropriate, as the moon moves from connective Pisces to primitively independent Aries early early this morning… my point in referring to Lachman’s insights is to inspire you to consider that these insights you’re seeking might be more psychical in nature, either metaphorically or literally—and much more instinctual—and that you’re in fact getting in your own way, aiming at anything that jumps out at you and missing your mark altogether…

You might be in need of a reconnection to your own natural intuitions, to that sixth sense—which, just so you know, will diminish in effectiveness if continually left unused… much like muscle memory. Or, be overlooked altogether.

Contrarily to popular belief, opinion, or many organized religious doctrine—you come into this lifetime equipped with everything you need, and more; you already inherently possess everything you’re seeking—you possess this within yourself, within the stardust of your genetic coding.

——Clarissa Pinkola Éstes

However, this preordained and magical wonder can become very confused and misapplied… self-knowledge frequently and easily becomes mistaken by what is, in actuality, a spiritually-minded and -motivated self-obsession.

Slippery slopes, slippery slopes…

Author Richard Rudd, too, advises that self-obsession is a slippery slope; Rudd shares that “self-obsession is driven by fear, and it is a very specific unconscious fear—it is the fear of losing your identity… as one of the deepest of all human fears, this fear forces you into a pattern of trying to find out who you are in order that you might find some kind of permanent definition in life. This quest for your true identity is the greatest quest there is.”

We often consider what we perceive through our five or six senses that that is who we are, through our experiences thereof—we mistaken these experiences as our identity, and in turn, begin misapplying these ‘identities’ through linking ‘everything to everything’ thereafter, endlessly… and as Lachman explains—we aren’t even entirely conscious of this inclination.

❝Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else’s opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.❞
——Oscar Wilde

Rudd continues, “it is the ageless journey of self-knowledge epitomized in the famous axiom cut into the stone above the door of the Oracle in Delphi—know thyself. However, at the low frequency of the shadow level, this quest for self knowledge becomes an obsession that actually keeps you from defining who and what you are… and through your thirst to escape your fear, you create a journey that has no end, filled with drama and adventure perhaps, but ultimately one in which you never have to face yourself.”

Continued further, Rudd offers that “in the modern western world, self-obsession is everywhere… people are obsessed with how they feel and how they look, with what they wear, what they own and where they live—as long as you are looking at yourself you cannot see around you, and there is the rub. Until you come to recognize your own self obsession you cannot transcend it, which is why it is a necessary evil. All inner journeys begin with the self-obsession and it can truly become an endless labyrinth. Even when self-obsession takes the form of a spiritual search, it can become a trap. In fact, in many ways the spiritual search for truth that is gripping so many individuals in our western world today is the greatest self obsession of all. The path itself easily becomes an addiction that keeps you from truly being yourself. The more you look for your own true identity, the more ephemeral it becomes.”

Still, self-knowledge transcends self-obsession, and offers what Rudd refers to as ‘spontaneous revelation’… it’s almost as though we need to fall victim to and succumb a smidge of self-obsession in order to transcend ourselves into a realm of selflessly motivated self-knowledge, to then further transcend beyond… into our true selves, our highest selves, beyond our own understood identities.

How whimsical and optimistic and magical the possibilities are—to know that you can actually, literally, and psychically be whoever you want to be, without the mental or egoic or genetic self-limiting hindrances we so easily fall victim within.

Individual identity, then—when aligned with your authenticity and celestial truth—isn’t so much about you at all… rather, could it be more about your reflectively interconnected and highest frequency?—which is but energy, and not an identity at all…

❝Look out of any window
Any morning, any evening, any day
Maybe the sun is shining
Birds are singing or rain is falling from a heavy sky
What do you want me to do
To do for you to see you through?
For this is all a dream we dreamed
One afternoon long ago…❞
