SURRENDERING TO THE SUBTLETIES

Forecast for Saturday, March 13th
Pisces New Moon at 23°04′

A gossamer is ‘a fine, filmy substance consisting of cobwebs spun by small spiders’… this term is used to refer to ‘something very light, thin, and insubstantial or delicate…’ they look like miniature villages of maniacal last-minute cobwebs being held together by spittle and silk… the difference between a gossamer and a spiderweb being that of intricacy and deliberation.

A gossamer is more like a fine film caught within and atop blades of grass…

A gossamer is somewhat accidental, or, entirely without thought…

A spiderweb is intentional.

A gossamer is a bit dreamy, very Neptunian in nature, as though a spider spent too much time in reverie, daydreaming, and not nearly enough effort or energy in actually actualizing, to produce an intricate web… as they say, goals are dreams with a deadline.

Like our lives—which should be lived through intention, and intricately authentic goals throughout—a spider weaves its web.

The symbolism of spiders weaving webs regards the choices we make which literally construct our entire lives… and the mindfulness it requires to even approach such intricacy.

Each spiderweb, like each snowflake, is completely different from the next. Does a spider contemplate its web before it begins?—this is a mystery. And, if a spider decides to change its design, does it appropriately begin again, navigating its weaving spontaneously, or after a new blueprint is considered and strategically planned?

They must, either way—as spiders notoriously do not become entrapped in their own torturous designs…

In order to be created, a work of art must first make use of the dark forces of the soul.❞
——Albert Camus

A spider weaving its web symbolizes a materializing manifestation at its finest—as though its entire reality is being experienced through the details of the web itself. Just as the spider creates its own reality and opportunities through the strategy of its web—you too have absolute authorship of your own life and decisions, and, like the spider, you’re currently requiring a need to see the results of your efforts.

I couldn’t imagine the endeavor of creating a spiderweb as easy, or in any way simple, nor will your endeavors prove so effortless. Consider the planning and strategizing and timing that goes into a spider’s web, into your life… the results you’re seeking through your goals—and particularly, your ideals—will need to be planned for, worked for, endured, and ultimately, secured.

Boasting, pride, hubris, or ignorance will not serve you now, even if you do excel in some large and validating way—if you are warranted recognition, it will find you, but you mustn’t alert others toward it. This directly associates itself to the mythology of Arachne—who boasted her own weaving skills being above those of Athena, Athena being the goddess of weaving, which resulted in a competition of sorts, which resulted in another match of skills, which resulted in furious anger, consequential shame, even suicide, and eventually, a transformative rebirth… as the drama in mythology goes.

You’re intruding on what’s mine and
You’re taking up my time—
Don’t have the courage inside me
To tell you please let me be…
Communication, a telephonic invasion—
I’m planning my escape…
Sorry I’m not home right now
I’m walking into spiderwebs
So leave a message
And I’ll call you back…
——No Doubt; “Spiderwebs” lyrics

The lesson to be learned from Arachne and Athena is that one’s natural talents and skills will illuminate others without bragging being necessary, or one needing to compete—but perhaps more importantly, within the foundation of its essence, this myth speaks to the seemingly effortless egoic entanglements we get ourselves into without even trying… we so easily become caught up in webs of our own making—whereas, to learn its lessons, we understand how important and imperative it is to weave the details of our realities with care and delicacy, deliberateness, and not so much with pride or willful ignorance.

Ahh, the subtleties of our realities…

Destiny truly is in our own hands in that our lives are lived through our will and intentions… or should be. When life is lived small, or too passively, to continue this theme—a gossamer is spun; when life is lived through purpose, with intention, deliberately—intricately meaningful webs are weaved, and the goal is eventually achieved, and advantages caught.

Today may be a vulnerable day, in that you may need to surrender further into your weaving, or sacrifice part of your plan—either way, you will realize the power you hold, and the effectiveness of your efforts, and you will likely suddenly behold a much larger meaning occurring within your life, or your reality… and it is likely that you are catching many advantages and benefits through your intentioned choices and previous weaving—whether it feels this way or not, opportunity is before you if you’re willing to continue forward, determinedly, with a designated design…

Take a bow and acknowledge yourself, with temperance and grace, and a calm of presence.

It is not in doing what you like, but in liking what you do that is the secret of happiness.❞
