I find it difficult to write about eclipses.
I think most astrologers, when they regard eclipses, these descriptions tend to reflect and describe its effects and manifestations upon a collective reaction, or a collective potential… because an eclipse and its influences upon an individual is so very very personal.
This lunar eclipse is very much about finding a new truth within a very darkened and hidden place, about finding a light through such darkness and unknowable unknowns… this eclipse is very much about the mystical, mindful, metaphysical and magical…
New truths and new ways are emerging and surfacing, and our dreams and intuition may be much more animated and thereby heightened… rabbit holes within our psyche are forming and morphing like black holes within our cosmos.
As shamanic astrologer Raven Kaldera describes the Sagittarius moon, which is featured through this week’s lunar eclipse, associated with the goddess Artemis, “the dark side of Artemis is that she is adamant and uncompromising, harsh in her idea of what is wrong and what is right, what can be tolerated and what cannot… she is a punisher of those who betray their oaths.”¹
And of course, through an eclipse, it is toward the dark side, specifically, to which one would refer…
However, these details and ‘truths’ aren’t always rational. And, of course, there really is no such thing as ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ but for a consensus thereof agreed upon.
Through this week’s irrationally inspired rabbit hole into the darkness of Self and Mind we will inevitably be introduced to, the energies are working in an effort to inspire focus upon something True, and/or something Real—to focus, ideally, upon the Light—within our own perception of what these are, no one else’s… and we will undoubtedly be asked to remain true to whatever this is throughout the duration of this season’s eclipse period—be that through June… and arguably, through November.
However, we will also, however metaphorically or symbolically, be asked to offer a sacrifice, as Artemis was always demanding of this, uncompromisingly…
Kaldera continues upon this concept, “some people are driven to new heights and opened mentally to new breadths when confronted with this kind of challenge…”¹
The challenge, of course, being that of offering a sacrifice.
As it is said: if you’re dedicated to change, and growth—let it cost you something.
Continued, “[there is an inner ability now toward] creative projects or new philosophies [emerging] out of oneself… with its combination of originality and conviction, [these emergences] can spark others to go on their own quests, leave behind their dull, bounded lives, and find their own hearts… watching a Sagittarian moon kick over the traces and run free can make others recognize their own chains.”¹
The sacrifice, then, is any need to be right, or any preference to know exactly what is happening… or any motivation by fear to control any of it or even understand along the way.
I feel that this eclipse, in whatever (ir)rational way, is asking you to trust in your own inner light—not necessarily your inner intuitions, mind you, because they’re likely a little frazzled at the moment… but trusting in your own inner light—this is never frazzled, faint, or fogged over.
❝Is the world a dangerous, chaotic place with no inherent purpose, running on automatic like a malfunctioning machine and fundamentally inimical to your drive to find meaning? Or are you surrounded by helpers in a friendly, enchanted universe that gives you challenges in order to
make you smarter and wilder and kinder and trickier?❞
Scorpio Gibbous Moon
As Robert Kiyosaki suggests, “you need to fail harder.”
As Saturn and Uranus continue to apply a second square, building and breaking down simultaneously, to be exact mid-June, today’s moon illuminates this buildup/breakdown through t-square: by squaring Saturn and opposing Uranus… and these influences could conjure inner motivations for change—and with both change and Life itself comes risk.
Circumstances, currently, may be requiring creativity, originality, or an additional touch of authenticity… “as the situation unfolds, you’ll learn clues as to what should be the next thing to do, the tasks that are worth performing or the risks that you are prepared to take… be prepared to be inventive and make things up as you go along.”²
You’ll likely be more willing to go beyond your usual preferences, even if by only a smidge… and it will do you some good.
However, you’ll need to cooperate with matters as they are, rather than as you would prefer them to be, or as they could be, if… but only as they are, and adore the authenticity of it, whatever it is—for better or worse.
After all—only when you allow yourself to go down into the depths of yourself, or an/Other, or something, anything—when you truly trust… in the universe, and thereby, reciprocatively, in yourself, and really listen to the whispers of your soul—you’re always alright.
❝We are afraid of truth, afraid of fortune, afraid of death, and afraid of each other.❞
——Ralph Waldo Emerson
Scorpio/Sagittarius Gibbous Moon
The energies of today (and yesterday) may not be so much about change for change-sake… but rather: choosing to take the risk of truly living, and therefore experiencing, Life itself as it’s meant to be.
Inner motivations are likely feeling a bit more charged, more driven, more… motivated. In fact, today’s energies are inspiring opportunities for which “you will have to muster intuitive faith and overcome any fears in order to truly enter these new realms…”²
New potentials, opportunities, and possibilities are before you… and both Life itself and your own reality is shifting; as Rainer Maria Rilke put it: who’s not sat tense before his own heart’s curtain?
One perspective of these energies suggests that “these can be felt on the physical level, on the more mystical planes, or in a sexual way… pulling back the curtain to reveal what needs to be shown will lead to answers to this question…”² this question being, of course, what exactly is the sacred pathway (for you), and (where) is it leading you?
Further, through this process of pathway, “you may find yourself having a transformative realization that will take your focus away from your more basic animal instincts to a more spiritual level of perception—your vital energies may remain constant, but the way in which these respond to the environment can change considerably… life takes on a different purpose and new and more liberating ways of acting in the world become available.”²
More intensely, magical or manic manifestations alike could occur within your reality, or within the collective, should you need a ‘wake-up call’, for “those of you who are not paying attention to your needs, wants, or desires…”²
Later in the day the moon moves from the darkness of Scorpio into the new day visions of Sagittarius… and “whether your situation contains difficult components, or whipped up and excited ones, the truth of the matter is that the foundations of your life are much more settled and the surface emotional distress is probably just misleading matters… staying anchored to what is true, permanent and stable in your life can help you get through whatever has been churned up.”
But these notions and motions must be navigated, nevertheless…
Finally, and more or less ultimately—the first eclipse of the year is tomorrow… this entire week is largely hit or miss upon the actual manifestations emerging or the more secured or permanent actualities ending for you within your reality.
❝Oh, there’s a lot of opportunities—if you know when to take them…
You know there’s a lot of opportunities—if there aren’t, you can make them…
(Make or break them)
I’ve got the brains, you’ve got the looks—let’s make lots of money…❞

New ways of living within the instabilities of reality will be rewarded, but not without a fair shake of inherent volatility.
Are we all living within a cult of one kind or another?
Consider, for a moment, that the very word ‘cult’ is the root of ‘culture’, which, in one way or another, through one or more varieties or another, throughout our lives, we are each a participant thereof… and I do not mean to refer to any religiosity, though this would definitely qualify—I mean, rather, to convey that the idea of culture is endlessly offered in our daily lives and realities, whether we’re subscribing or not, and simultaneously, however silently, requiring payment of process.
That the moon is in Sagittarius, a zodiacal sign that represents freedom, and personal truth and questhood… only perpetrates this current eclipsed notion that our security of salvation lies within—within notions of purely personal Truth experienced directly through individuated exploration… explorations in cultures.
Culture—however popular, (un)necessary, traditional, or legit scary, inclusive or exclusive—and whatever it may offer or demand is not offering truth.
Only our direct experience offers personal Truth.
Misunderstandings, mistranslations and misinterpretations—not like with Mercury retrogrades, but much more inherent, much more authentic—through this eclipsed week could very likely be influenced through core understandings of very basic concepts, or experience entire upheavals of belief systems: in that there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’, only personal perception… what you’ve believed to be true since childhood might feel rigged, silly, even unlikely, or blatantly untrue now—and this is the essence of this eclipse: being open to receive new ideas.
Being open to receive.
Shamanic astrologer Raven Kaldera describes the Sagittarius full moon, the Priests Moon, as being “touched through the channel of the sacred texts and traditions that he has learned…”³
In other words, participating in an openness to receive and truly experiencing Life as it is meant to be received…
Further, Kaldera expands that “the word religion is related to re-linking, as it is a set of beliefs that link people together…”³ and yet, this moon influences the unlinking—and arguably, misdirection thereof—between the physical, instincts, and naturalness of Nature, and the rational and mental… which, unsurprisingly, lends itself to some blurred parameters.
These ideas, however, will require very clearly defined structures of statement… however, unstatedly, it will need to feel right.
I know. Everything is sort of swirling all around you… and this is why it is so crucial to trust your inner light over your intuited responses—and to be open to receive in the first place.
But it will be important, and eventually beneficial, to you “to understand the expectations required… behaving against these expectations can receive a harsh reaction and treatment and possibly even rejection—this is not the time for anyone to be pushing the envelope to test what acceptable to the rules of society.”²
Further, “the rules and guidelines for operating in this situation are, or should be, made very clear—there will be some form of punishment for dishonesty.”²
A dishonesty toward yourself, your soul, your true and inner motivations, your inner light… your authenticity—this would result in devastating repercussions.
This clearness that needs to be defined might be tricky, as your rational mind and your instincts may not be connecting exactly or naturally, but rather denying the other a sense of clarity, or truth, and thereby—a natural dishonesty of sorts, hidden, from within…
Whatever your circumstances—what are the hidden, or eclipsed, elements within this situation?
What cultures do you subscribe to, and do these acts of participation inspire your authenticity and offer you an extended sense of individuation, or do they demand something of you?
Or do they take something from you or deplete you?
Finally, and fortunately, the moon loosely connects to Chiron, an easily associated symbology to Sagittarius as the Wounded Healer, as well as the Mentor of Heroes—true heroes, contrary to popular understanding, being those who trust and participate in their own instincts and truth, and are open to receive Life through their authenticity despite any active or lingering culture within the collective…
And this suggests that whatever disconnections you’re experiencing or acknowledging—any effort in this blurried connection could be extremely healing for you going forward, in time… open to receive.
❝A faith that cannot survive collision with the truth is not worth many regrets.❞
——Arthur C Clarke
Sagittarius/Capricorn Disseminating Moon
Personal opportunities for creativity continue today, and should you “be receptive to this new way of life you’ll learn a lot… learning how to communicate will help you succeed in this new territory—whether this be a new home, new country, new job, new relationship, etc (new perspective or belief or ideal)—can help dispel any feelings of alienation…”² (parentheses mine)
Further, “perhaps there is a need to let go of past experiences or people in order to move on… letting go of the hindering and stifling elements of the past will help… give thanks for what is being released from the past and prepare for the new to come.”²
Quite celestially convenient, indeed.
These are all very useful and effective details to consider within… today may more aggressively offer furthered ideas of ideals, to actively daydream over the surface of what is realistic.
Receptivity, either way, is key, especially these days… any rigidity will only break you—just go with it.
However. Once the moon moves into Capricorn, reality will need to be more appropriately considered…
One suggestion—how are you nurturing your rituals?—and how are you honoring your usefulness?—your usefulness toward your own ideals?
How are you honoring your own participation in your ideals?
Remember that, always—but arguably, today specifically—today is the first day of the rest of your life… what, oh what, do you have in mind, heart, and soul?
❝Remember that happiness is a way of travel, not a destination.❞
Capricorn Disseminating Moon
I wonder if hidden truths or expanded-upon facts will emerge seemingly out of nowhere today…
Further, these hidden truths or expansions in awareness could emerge within the collective, or even within the inner depths of the psyche—which of which could feel particularly harsh.
However short-lived these inclinations of doubt may be, try to rise above any thoughts or feelings alike that do not offer you light.
Further still, the Venus/Mercury conjunction occurs today at 24°42′ Gemini, while Mercury stations at 24°43′ Gemini, which is a detail in and of itself—this degree associates itself with details, awareness, and the simplifications toward the essence of all things… there is a “clearing away of the evidence of the past in order to give a great, clean image… the truths about your life, however, is gained from what you have learned and how it is taking you forward.”²
Further, “it is important to let the powerful energies within rise up and grow toward the heavens.”⁴
Effectively, today is a day to clarify and simplify in a most extreme way, and likely—even participating in an entirely different approach to something, be it familiar to you or not.
You are striving… striving to succeed—and thereby somewhat surrendered to a personal idea of accomplishment, however particular this might be… familiarity isn’t exactly worth fussing over today.
❝I like being precise and particular. There is a certain respect in that.❞
Capricorn Disseminating Moon
Today is one of those days it would be best to watch your words, to count to ten or twenty before a thought becomes a sentence, and to clarify any confusions should they be outrageously mistranslated, or projected in a most personal manner.
Keep this in mind, too—should you be on the receiving end of an/Other’s confrontationally aggressive or personally projected banter in one way or another…
Or perhaps you might be providing your own commentary from within through a most critical self-criticism or self-sabotaging sisyphean siesta…
Try to be gentle with yourself, and with others—and try to be mindful that others around you and everywhere may be feeling quite harsh, burdened, or otherwise vulnerable, all for reasons only they might understand or defend…
Dark thoughts may come and go, or you may choose to dwell—these manipulative alternatives will not benefit you.
❝Everything changes when you start to emit your own frequency rather than absorbing the frequencies around you, when you start imprinting your intent on the universe rather than receiving an imprint from existence.❞
Aquarius Disseminating Moon
Feelings of heaviness, weight, constraint, or lockdown could be experienced today—potentially in response or reaction from yesterday’s residuals—even claustrophobic isolations in one way or another… and it’s feeling more and more difficult to break free from something.
But you need to, don’t you.
Are you properly working to let go of something that is no longer working?
Are you rigidly holding onto the idea of something that simply is no longer?
Something isn’t working within your reality—be it an outdated or restrictive belief system, rigidly held devotions to something no longer serving you, an ignorant enabling of something that (or someone who) lessens you, directly hurts you, leaves you lifeless, or is slowly destroying you otherwise…
Or it could even be a physical manifestation that is smothering you, such as a marriage, a career choice or dead end job, or an empty friendship or partnership.
You need freedom from something, one way or another… and, really, it’s not freedom so much as it might be a participation in openness, yes?—and to be open, a willful emptying must be obliged.
You may not be able to avoid these feelings or actualities, either way, however a shift—if not an outright elimination—is being demanded.
Today’s Aquarian moon connecting to Saturn will likely further influence the weightedness or burden of your circumstances—and as an Aquarian moon is a lunarly influence of Uranian rebellion, squaring Uranus throughout the hours of today—an underlying and in-ignorable scream may be heard from deep within…
Oddly, however, a certain degree of interdependence continues to be necessary… possessing an ability to differentiate and discern between the inner needs to disconnect, and a very primal need to cohesively and collaboratively connect, will further inform you of just how significant your participation within your own life and authorship really and truly is.
❝You have to change your life if you’re not happy, and wake up if things aren’t going the way you want.❞
