A Capricorn moon prefers, and sort of inconspicuously demands, concepts of commitment… especially so when it is haloed in the striving brilliance of a sun moving through Saturn’s domain.
More so, shamanic astrologer Raven Kaldera explains a Capricorn moon, that this particular moon “wants a destiny, a partner, a family, a life, a spirit that is not just comfortable but worthy, and will work harder and do without longer in order to keep from compromise…” and further, that “it is said that to be able to get what you want is riches, but to be able to do without is power—this moon [when in Capricorn] understands this mystery.”
And so, perhaps most prominently today: is this Capricorn new moon, upon the second day of a brand new day—a brand new year—suggesting we consider our renewed and revived goals—and maybe, furthermore, should we refer to them now as dreams?—from a perspective of worth rather than practicality?
Throughout much of 2021, our ideals were needing to be narrated and guided, prepared and planned for, more as goals—much more, realistic and practical goals… that those ideals of ours that didn’t much make any sense in real time—these would only inflict frustration. These ideal-motivated goals, then, were, if anything, an effort toward inspiring and teaching us to think critically and consider our environs and immediate surroundings with more discernment… in 2021, essentially, we were given endless opportunities to be reminded that time, above all else, is the most valuable resource we have—and what we choose to do with it is everything.
❝If there is a soul, it is a mistake to believe that it is given to us fully created. It is created here, throughout a whole life. And living is nothing else but that long and painful bringing forth.❞
——Albert Camus
Today, rather than the calendared December 31st or January 1st tradition of resolutions, is an official astrological new beginning.
The word ‘resolution’ derives from the Latin root ‘solvere’ meaning ‘to loosen, release, explain’… truly, ‘a breaking into parts’, to ‘unyoke; undo; relax; set free; dispel’… though I’m not entirely convinced that we’ll have a realistic sense of relaxation—enough so to feel any sensation of resolve—until December of 2022, if at all.
Truly, a Capricorn moon, particularly when paired with a saturnian sun, appreciates a goal—needs one, in fact, to feel safe and secure, settled, and solvent… however, one of the most audacious of motivating placements in our charts—Jupiter—has just moved into Pisces… and both Pisces and Jupiter need dreams.
This new year of 2022—particularly from now through May—will inspire your dreams, regardless of how realistic in real time they are, or however impractical they are in any sense of time. In fact, Saturn—which governs today’s new moon—is at exactly 12° Aquarius, and literally cannot see this event in astro-cosmic terms from this perspective… though this degree of Aquarius associates itself, most conveniently, with “the ability to discover basic natural facts that allow us to plan in advance for action.”
Thereby, it is no longer an issue of realistically rendered rhetoric or practicality of potential—it is within the realms of natural facts, meaning: natural law.
Which is to say—these matters, these matters of your dreams, are between you, your inner spark, and the natural laws of the cosmos.
As astrologer Dane Rudhyar transcribed, “the future is already operating at the core of the present…”
You can anticipate, then, and naturally, to have your dreams taken seriously… and perhaps not just seriously, but considered worthy.
❝There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.❞
——Paulo Coelho
Still, please remember that this new moon, regardless of perspective, remains governed and disposited by Saturn, and Saturn isn’t too keen on handing out dreams as if they were free-of-charge invitation flyers on the street in Vegas. Whenever Saturn is involved—work is required… and the fear of failure is likely.
Where is Capricorn in your chart?—where is Saturn natally?Do you have any planets present within the house ruled by Saturn? These details will inform you directly upon where/how your dreams are needing to be worked for… or, rather, let’s say: what your dreams are needing from you.
Further, these placements will also conjure for you a sense of what these fears of failure really are… the essence of them from within a new perspective.
How did you spend your time in 2021?
How will you spend your time in 2022?
What are your fears, and how have these changed?—are they worth your time and energy?
Did you have, or feel you had, to compromise anything?
Will you be willing to compromise now?
Perhaps the most remarkably noteworthy point toward the overallocation of this new moon event, then, is within the context of resolution, by its etymological definition—to loosen, and set free… to set free some bizarre and instinctive inner knowing—that inner fire we all have within!—and believe. Maybe simply believing is the beginning?
Saturn remains within a tight, though separating, square to Uranus at this time, and so this would imply an association to that which is old toward that which is new, and finding a balance between mind and matter that works well for you… and this seemingly endless arm-wrestling match should quiet a bit by mid-month—though it will likely never quite feel resolved, at least not before 2023.
❝It is not enough that we do our best; sometimes we must do what is required.❞
——Winston S. Churchill
This ongoing arm-wrestling match you’ve been battling throughout 2021 will begin to quiet though—especially if you begin paying more time and effort toward your inner spark, which was, after all, the point of the square since the beginning… though last year these individuated ideals needed strategized—this year these dreams wish to be lived.
Once more—these dreams of yours that originate from within your inner spark, they will require breathing room, such as space within your reality; that will require your focus, and your time; they will require you turning more inward than you’ve ever dared before; they will require you harness your personal resources in an effort to fully nourish whatever it is your dream needs; they will require you to create your own magic.
These dreams of yours—as far as Saturn needs to be concerned—are your responsibility.
What are you able to change in your reality that paves a space for your dreams?
How do you plan to create your own magic?
❝Unless commitment is made, there are only promises and hopes; but no plans.❞
——Peter F. Drucker
These new beginnings for 2022 are asking you to give your problems and circumstances your total focus, to boil all the muck down to something usable, to clarify and eliminate the unnecessary, to take time to analyze how it all fits together in a functional manner, and to be relentlessly consistent.
Finally, this new moon, within the second decan of Capricorn, is associated with the three of pentacles in the tarot, which distills itself further to associate its meanings with concepts of blueprints—the necessary first steps of anything that eventually endures the actions of being built.
However, again, with Saturn being so heavily influential now, these blueprints, as well as whatever dreams of yours are being built—not only are they just as heavy as the determinism of Saturn… they will demand the long haul—dreams are never built overnight or in a day, nor do dreams ever exist beyond the realms of natural law… these blueprints exist in an effort to become real, to be built in reality—these blueprints are for keeps.
These original and initial blueprints of yours… they are worth your time and attention, and to be brutally honest, they should be worth the story of your life—they must be taken painfully seriously.
These blueprints of yours are your responsibility.
These blueprints will require the light of your inner spark—and as you build upon your blueprints, you’ll be delighted by the warmth and brightness your inner spark begins to set free.
❝Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.❞
