★TUESDAY FORECAST

Virgo 1st Quarter Moon at 16°51′
—June 7

Well.

You’ve got your work cut out for yourself, yes?!

A typical Virgoan moon needs something to do—preferably something that means something, something that is fulfilling, either spiritually or emotionally… though, a first quarter moon begs of you the confrontational question—what have you needed to do (since the new moon on May 30) and have you done it?

If it isn’t about what you’ve needed to do and lacked doing—it may be confronting something of a growing internal crisis of sorts… perhaps toward the genuineness or meaningfulness of your authenticity.

Interestingly, according to shamanic astrologer Raven Kaldera, a first quarter moon in Virgo, what he refers to as ‘a Counting Moon’, involves order… “locked into a small and ordered world where everything is numbered, organized, and entirely free of chaos… [one’s] nerves need not be burdened, and everything is where it should be—relief at last!”

However.

There’s always that ‘however’ with those quartered moons…

Kaldera writes, “free of chaos, of course, means that it is free of Art, Spirit, Nature, and other people… it is a sterilized space where nothing ever needs to change except for the works, which consists of ever more elaborate and efficient forms of Counting…”

And I think this, indeed, speaks to the underlying essence of today’s needs, absolutely—however, today’s lunarly degree is entitled ‘a volcanic eruption’, which is to refer to: unordered chaos.

Which is only further to refer to today’s vibrations potentially feeling that much more irritable, underneath it all…

Essentially—today’s particularly quarterly priority of accounts… you’ll likely find somewhere that you’re coming up short—or that you’ve been allowing something to remain silent, or overlooked… are you counting grudges, or blessings?

Further, any ‘repressiveness could provoke rebellion’… either personal or collective. Additionally, or otherwise, “somebody or something may have been holding things inside until a powerful force has built up to the point where there can be no more resistance and everything is thrown, spewed, or forced out… this eruption could be expressed as anger, but also [for those of you operating upon higher frequencies] in the explosive form of ideas, beliefs, goals, and insights.”

Originally, astrologer Dane Rudhyar transcribed in his descriptions of this degree, “the explosive energy of long-repressed contents of the subconscious…” and he expressed even more deeply, that “we are dealing here with the dramatic release of energies which have been kept in check by the outer shell of the ego controlled consciousness—it may be a spectacular catharsis, but it often takes paths of destruction…”

And in the spirit of Virgoan critical harshness, Rudhyar adds that “yet unless some form of purification by fire is experienced, the inner pressure of the karmic past or of more recent frustrations would shake up perhaps even more destructively the very foundations of the personality.”

Despite referencing volcanic eruptions, I continue to glimpse the sentiments and emotional processing of awakening—in tuned with recent building energies—and transformations, even metamorphosis… or rebirth. As I mentioned in a previous post—these sentiments, despite how enlightening they may be, hurt. And perhaps much of today’s potential for underlying tensions and irritations—perhaps these, deeply underneath it all, stem from tender hurts that are still being held to or otherwise empowered.

Finally, and the ultimate essence of essentiality toward today’s energies—however today’s repressions or underlying tensions or irritations, oversights or undercounting manifest or measure out—it’s your response/reaction that may matter most.

Overreactions are absolutely possible, blasted with potential tantrums…

Should you choose to utilize lower frequencies, and react, perhaps asking yourself—once you’ve calmed yourself, of course—if the force of your emotions is even related to the current situation.

It’s through the most emotional reactions that more painful transformations can occur—which typically need to occur…

Should you choose to utilize the higher frequencies on offer through today’s energies, and respond in an ordered calm… then you may be tuning into what tarot writer Jessica Dore suggests, via the 9 of Pentacles—which is the card associated with the second decan of Virgo—that “maturity is the ability to make good decisions on behalf on your future self—you understand that anything you plant, you’ll harvest later, for better or worse, and so you sow wisely, which sometimes means doing things you don’t feel like doing or forgoing short-term gratification… when you’re mature you understand that the you of the future is the you of today.”

And this, my friends—after personality integration, transformation, acknowledging genuine authenticity, and individuated selfhood—is what psychologist Abraham Maslow referred to as self-actualization.

Dore quotes Lewis Hyde, “each being in this world must find the set of opportunities fitted to its nature…” and on this note I add, also, a quote from Sartre, “freedom is what you do with what has been done to you…” and it is on this note I count up my totals and add—

If your reaction was a billboard of who you are, would you still react?

If your response was a billboard of who you are, would it be genuine?

If everyone could see your dirty laundry—would the laundry fit? And on this note, obviously—Virgo hates dirty laundry… get it clean.

No one is powerful enough to make you handle your life responsibly. You don’t have to, and you are not even wrong if you don’t. And there are consequences. And if you do choose to handle problems in your life responsibly, you won’t even be right for doing it. And there will be consequences.
