Virgo New Moon at 4°04′
—August 27
Yeah, you’re most definitely on to something now…
I’ve shared this quote before, but it’s really emerging for me to share again—Elizabeth Gilbert writes in her book ‘Big Magic’ her theory about ideas:
❝I believe that our planet is inhabited not only by animals and plants and bacteria and viruses, but also by ideas. Ideas are a disembodied, energetic life-form. They are completely separate from us, but capable of interacting with us—albeit strangely. Ideas have no material body, but they do have consciousness, and they most certainly have will. Ideas are driven by a single impulse: to be made manifest. And the only way an idea can be made manifest in our world is through collaboration with a human partner. It is only through a human’s efforts that an idea can be escorted out of the ether and into the realm of the actual…
And you, my friend, are on to something these days… you’ve most probably got an idea.
Likely, since the Leo new moon—but most certainly through somewhere since then. Obviously. What I mean to say, however brutally honestly—you should be on to something.
Something should be sparking within you.
If nothing’s sparking within you—you’re trying too hard.
Either way, today’s new moon will assist you in your efforts, or woes.
Always, always—Virgoan energies should indicate to you the equivalence of necessary adjustments and discernment, judgement and self-criticisms… and this is why devotion is so readily associated to Virgo—because any of these crucial efforts in improvement and self-betterment require an absolutely honest devotion to something much larger than oneself… a devotion to something that truly fans a flame within.
Much like the action of manifesting an idea from thought to form—Virgoan energies innately, and mercurially, create More through the refining and editing into the most minimal: which is to say—More of the Most-est.
The painter Hans Hoffman once commented, that “the ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak…” it’s this—this is the essence of Virgoan energy.
What’s real and worthy of your time and energies—and what’s not?
Moving on—
Today—or this weekend—would be a really ideal time to get away…
However. To make the absolute Most-est, as it were, of these lunarly energies—this getaway should be taken alone… these energies are abound with sparks of seed-ideas, for those of you still without, and for those of you currently nestling the germination of a recent spark—this is an auspicious time to further invest your thoughts toward the type(s) of collaborations your idea/goal will require.
Ever so celestially conveniently—today’s lunarly event squares Mars exactly, shy of only several arc minutes, which is astro babble for: really big damn deal… and as Mars is newly moving through Gemini—you can’t make this up!—which translates to: thoughts in action, or moving with thoughts… and, simultaneously, “there can be the revelation of… your senses coming alive on many levels, with things revealed that you may have only imagined before…”
Additionally, today’s lunarly event occurs through a degree that describes ‘attunement to unconscious imagery; belief in participatory magic; collective odd facts that mark out the borders of one’s reality; living out fantasies in a positive way; and playful examination of a problem from various angles…’
Further, “there may be strong feelings of other levels of awareness happening and these may be growing stronger by the moment…”
Though, it must be said—these new ideas emerging for you—these ideas will not be able to sprout and grow into anything through the usage of your old, outdated, No Longer paradigms of consciousness. These ideas will demand the recent upgrades in consciousness you’ve been offered—and if you refused or resisted those opportunities, these ideas will be lost on you—as it’s through the higher levels of consciousness that these ideas are prepared to evolve toward…
You’re becoming more aware…
Today’s lunarly event occurs through the first decan of Virgo, a decan about which astrologer Austin Coppock writes “the moon nurtures what she holds in her womb carefully—Luna works to aid in the manifestation of material things here when waxing…” as well as titling the chapter of this face: A Tree Bearing Fruit. Further, Coppock states that “this signifies great attention to small matters…” which is to conjuncture the smallest of ideas becoming the Most of the Most-est, should we do our part in participation.
Finally, it is the 8 of pentacles in the tarot that associates to the first decan of Virgo—a card that very much represents the essence of dedication and effort, mindfulness, and details… it’s a card that can also remind us, or alert us, of noise and useless distractions in the way.
Tarot writer Jessica Dore writes of this card in association with the concept of commitment—much how I use the word devotion… either of which embody exactly what Elizabeth Gilbert was expressing in the quote above—the ‘collaboration with a human partner… it is only through a human’s efforts that an idea can be escorted out of the ether and into the realm of the actual…’
Dore writes that even “when it does involve another person—a commitment is ultimately a deal you make with yourself.”
Further, Dore informs that “the techniques of the shaman, magician, and mystic are founded upon continuous practice and repeated effort informed by spiritual dedication and are focused by ethical intention… [they] begin with such unglamorous practices as repetitive meditation, training the mind, honing perception, and searching the soul…”
These are excellent ideas for today, in one way or another.
Dore has so many brilliantly expressed points toward this card, it’s impressive and inspiring… Dore implores the various reasons why we, as humans, struggle with concepts of commitment, and with sticking out the unglamorous and mind-numbingly slow parts of any process… issues such as a fear of failure, issues of entitlement, and avoidance… and, of course, “there’s just bad aim.”
The sense of entitlement bit, I would like to share with you—Dore writes that some people struggle with “a sense that life owes you the results you want…” and quotes Jay-Z, these people tend to “emulate the end result and not the process…” a-ha… understanding most thoroughly the actual reality of what it actually takes to manifest something—this is Virgoan energy at its finest, because it does, almost inherently, understand precisely this.
To conclude, Dore writes, “the way toward what’s precious begins with determining what’s personally worth pursuing, and the journey is often long, arduous, and uncertain… it requires discipline, which is the way of one who takes apprenticeship to the commitment itself and thereby reaps the knowledge that blooms through the process; process is a word we encounter over and over again in pentacles—to quote Clarissa Pinkola Estés: the work is to keep doing the work.
❝My soul, when I tend to it, is a far more expansive and fascinating source of guidance than my ego will ever be, because my soul desires only one thing: wonder. And since creativity is my most efficient pathway to wonder, I take refuge there, and it feeds my soul, and it works out the hungry ghost—thereby saving me from the most dangerous aspect of myself.❞
